Boccaccio
Giovanni Boccaccio

1313~1375. Italian poet. He worked in Florence and valued Dante highly. His representative work is The Decameron, which influenced greatly Geoffrey Chaucer in writing The Canterbury Tales.
Vernon Lee loved reading Boccaccio. In ‘Symmetria Prisca' in Euphorion, she wrote: "Dante, Petrarca, and Boccaccio were at once the founders of modern literature and the exponents of the literature of antiquity; the strong young present was to profit by the experience of the past."
In 'Old Italian Gardens' in Limbo and Other Essays, she mentioned Boccaccio.
